Make Profits Online…Confused? – Everything Starts With Keywords and Traffic…

Article by Ian Matthews

Contrary to what you may have heard, you can use your computer and the Internet to make profits online – but, there are no “magic buttons” here. The only way to make profits online is by consistent work. Unfortunately many people give up because they are not building a business, and are just looking at ways to make money quick. They jump on every new Internet Marketing product that comes out, and just end up getting confused and overwhelmed. When it comes to building an online business, everything starts with keywords and traffic.

In fact, in order to make money online today, and build an online business, the whole process can be simplified to three basic steps:Getting traffic.Putting offers in front of your traffic.Converting the traffic using your offer.Traffic -> Your Offer -> Convert = Money/Profit…Thats it! Traffic can be split into two main types:PaidFreeYour offer can be:An affiliate product.A CPA offer.Your own information product.A membership site.In this article I’m going to concentrate on organic/free traffic principles.Free traffic primarily comes from the search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.) When someone types in a keyword phrase into a search engine, you want your website to be shown on the first page of the search engine result pages (SERP’s). To give your website a chance to show on the first page of Google you need to do some keyword research before you set it up.Most people do this the wrong way around, i.e. they build their site and then are surprised when they get no traffic/visitors. I am not going to go into niche selection in this article, but normally you will create a website based around a particular niche. Once you have decided on the niche, you need to do some keyword research. You can use keyword research tools to do this or just brainstorm your own keyword ideas based around the niche you have chosen. I tend to use Google to do keyword research, i.e. by typing in the niche related keyword into Google, to get other related keyword ideas. I tend to try to select keywords that have at least 3 phrases, as these are likely to have less competition and will be more targeted to the niche (they are what are known as “long tail keywords”).Once you have a set of keywords you then need to check the following for each one, to see if they will be worth building a site around:The amount of competition the keyword has in the search engines. The amount of searches the keyword gets a month. In order to ‘get a feel’ for the amount of competition your keyword has in the search engines:Type in your keyword phrase in quotes into Google i.e. “keyword phrase”This will return the amount of websites that are optimized for the “keyword phrase”Check that these phrase matched results in Google for your “keyword phrase” return less than 30,000 results.Next type the following into Google:allintitle:keyword phraseThis will return the number of results from Google that have the keyword phrase in their website title. The keyword should follow the allintitle with no spaces.Check that this returns less than 5000 results. These results will give you an idea of how difficult it will be to get your web page onto the first page of the Google SERP’s (search engine results pages). It is obviously not worth getting your site on the first page of Google based around a particular keyword, if no one is searching for that keyword. So the next thing to do is to check how many searches your chosen keyword gets. You can do this using the “Google external keyword tool”. Just type this into Google, to find the url for it, and then type in your keyword phrase. Look at the “global monthly search volume” column as this will give you an estimate of how many people are searching for the keyword term every month. I tend to concentrate on keywords that have at least 3000 searches a month (i.e. around 100 searches a day). This is the minimum number of daily searches I use to determine if I should use a keyword or not.By default the Google keyword tool shows you “broad match” searches, so you may wish to change the match type to “phrase” or “exact” to get a better indication of the search volume for your chosen keyword. After analyzing your keywords using the method above, you should be able to locate keywords that have some search volume (i.e. people are searching for them in Google etc), but not too much competition in the search engines. To recap, look for keywords that fulfill the following:Search volume:Ensure more than 100 searches a day (at least 3000 searches a month).Competition:Ensure < 30,000 phrase matched results.Ensure allintitle: returns less than 5000 results.Just spending some time doing this minimal keyword research will give you a much better chance of getting your website (based around these keywords) into the top 10 search engines results pages. There are of course other things you need to be aware of like the competition you face in the top 10 results, and building links to your site to help its position in the SERP’s, and monetizing your site, to allow you to start to make profits online.

Facts Your Orlando SEO Company Should Know About Keywords

Article by Shawn H

If you are not very familiar with search engine optimization, you may not know how an Orlando SEO company works to improve website traffic. There are several factors in the practice of search engine optimization which most amateurs are not aware of and do not have time to learn. Here are a few keyword factors your Orlando SEO company must know to help you.

1. They need to know the value of keywords.SEO is based on the fact that search engines evaluate websites and web content, in part, by looking at the appearance of relevant words and phrases within the text. An Orlando SEO company should know that keywords are important in any online content, whether it is an article, a press release, website content, or even a video title.

2. They must know what makes an effective keyword. There are many factors that make keywords effective. First, they must be relevant to your content. If they are on your website, it is best if they are related to the goods and services you have to offer. Keywords need to be typed into search engines often enough to be of value to you. At the same time, they need to be unusual enough that everyone on the Internet is not optimizing for those keywords. A great Orlando SEO company will assure that you land near the top of a search results page that is not overpopulated.

3. They should be able to use keyword phrases inconspicuously.Your content should read naturally and easily, as if there were no special attention paid to keywords at all. Yet, those keywords must be there, hiding within the text to do their jobs of bringing the traffic to your website. The Orlando SEO company should be well-versed at using long-tailed keyword phrases within the body of your content without interrupting the flow of the text.

4. It is important that they know where to put the keywords. An Orlando SEO company should know the best spots in the webpage, article, or press release to put their keywords. These include the title, the first and last sentence of the content and other prominent locations. They should also be put in the META tags or Keywords sections when they are submitted to article directories.

5. It is crucial that your Orlando SEO company knows the proper number of times to use keywords. This is called keyword density. It is expressed as a ratio of the number of keywords to the number of words in the document. The keyword density of SEO writing depends on where the content will be used. It should never be below 2% and rarely ever above 8%. Most article directories will not accept articles with over a 4% keyword density for any one keyword phrase.

If you have any doubts about your SEO agency, ask them about these keyword factors. Listen to their responses and ask questions if their answers seem wrong or confusing. You deserve to know what your marketing plan is all about. As a part of this, you deserve to know that your Orlando SEO company knows what it is doing when it comes to using keywords.
